Brahms Trio No.1 in B Major, Opus 8
NZTrio continues its 2011 touring season with a programme of musical passion and intensity. American composer and violist Kenji Bunch is fast becoming a ‘composer to watch’ (as described by the NY Times), and his music is immediately accessible and engaging. The trio will begin with “Grooveboxes” which is a movement from a larger work called “Swing Shift” - its intense rhythmic groove guaranteed to keep the toes tapping! The trio then switch pace with a piece by Chris Adams, one of NZ’s leading young composers. His high impact “Jekyll Rat” was written for NZTrio while at the University of Otago Wallace Residency at Pah Homestead. Rounding out the programme is the much loved first Brahms Trio in B Major, well known for its gorgeous lyricism and beauty.
