Beethoven Piano Trio No.7 in B flat major, Opus 97, “Archduke”

NZTrio's final Auckland Museum concert for 2010 will see the completion of its Schumann cycle, with the romantic master's lilting and heartfelt third piano trio beginning the programme. The trio will then be joined on stage by taonga puoro (traditional Maori Instrument) specialist Richard Nunns for a performance of the dramatic and haunting Nga Kete e Toru, a recent NZTrio commission from Gareth Farr and Richard Nunns, premiered earlier in the year at the Bay of Islands Festival. The magnificent Beethoven Archduke Trio will preside over the second half of the programme - a work that the Trio has recently been performing around the South Island to cheers as well as tears of joy and emotion - a fitting way to complete this wonderful 2010 Auckland series.
